Tasker and AutomateIt on Android are amazing apps -- can't live without them. I'm thinking of getting a Windows 8 tablet (I currently carry around an Asus Transformer Pad TF300 with me all the time, so carrying a Windows 8 tablet like Asus Transformer Book shouldn't be too much of a problem), but what stops me from getting a Windows 8 tablet is that it doesn't support any Tasker or AutomateIt types of apps -- or does it?

Am I wrong? Please let me know. Thank you! :-)

Although I don't have any examples, I know that there are apps for the traditional x86 Windows environment that will do this. That said, these apps will not exist for the ARM based platform without using the communities "jailbreak" because of the limited permissions and sandboxed experience that Metro? Modern UI? Whatever they're being called now, apps that are provided in the MS Store.

So the Surface (or Surface RT) will not likely be able to do this, even with the jailbreak the application will need to be compiled for ARM anyway, creating more work.

The Surface Pro (or other x86 based Windows 8 tablets) will be able to utilize automation and features like you asked.

Hope this helped you.
