I got an old sony camcorder that works, But can not use on the Laptop as the sony drivers does work within windows 7 and 8. With the camcorder tho you can connect an Firewire cable, But the laptop does not have a port for an Firewire. I was looking at amazon there is a USB A to Firewire , But will that work on the laptop or is it best to get a new camera that been tested on a Win7 or Win8 Laptop?

I would like make videos within movie maker or do an live youtube video.

You could get a PCMCIA card that has the firewire on it if your laptop does have that PCMCIA connection on the side of the laptop itself. Have you check to see if they have at least a driver version for Vista that would most likely be compatible with Windows 7 at lease.

My laptop does not have a PCMCIA card slot. Newest laptop will not have an PCMCIA anyway.
