I have fiber optic broadband and when the internet is working, it certainly does work...

however it will quite often drop connection for 30 seconds.

This is very annoying and i don't know why.

I've only NOTICED it on my newly built PC however I haven't really been using many other devices lately.

I spend most of the time on this PC running a Minecraft server, playing Minecraft and on Skype.

Any ideas?

Is the issue that the wifi signal drops or that the internet connection drops? The title gives me the impression that the Wifi is the issue but reading the question gives me the impression that the issue resides with your internet connect?

Check to see if there is a firmware update for your router. I had this same problem and an update resolved it.

microwaves, radios, cell phones, etc can cause issues, try placing the router in a more direct location.
