iPad mini or Nexus 7 with Ubuntu for tablets?

Hello, world.

I am thinking about purchasing a tablet for quite some time now. I was prompted to buy an iPad mini earlier because I am a big fan of Apple already and I hate Android. Now Ubuntu for the Nexus 7 is there, I mean the tablet version and not the Desktop version, so, I am a fan of Ubuntu on my laptop in VMWare Workstation. I use it pretty frequently. I hate Android and love iOS but the Nexus 7 is cheaper. Is the Nexus 7 with Ubuntu installed on it a good alternative for me instead of the iPad mini or should I just go with the iPad mini.
