I own an iphone 4s a Macbook pro, iPad and apple tv. My iphone 4s no longer will work so I can take my moms old iphone 4 but I also have enough for the nexus 4. The phone honestly impressed me, and I also will be attending a college where alot of the programming teaches you to write android apps. So is there anything wrong about owning an Android in an apple ecosystem. I dont care much for browser synch and I use my ipad for airplay, so what is the major disadvantage of owning an android in an apple ecosystem?

Well the only one who can really answer that is you. If you're already in the Apple ecosystem and don't mind that your Nexus 4 will be out of sync from your other Apple devices, I say go for it! If you think you will miss having the integration with iCloud, then stick with the iPhone. Try this, get the Nexus 4, if you miss the iPhone, send it back. That's what I would do.

I have my Nexus 7 in with my iPhone and Mac, they are all getting along. I am not that heavy with iCloud, only really use it for iTunes related stuff and I just manually copy songs via Android File Transfer to my nexus.

Basically you would think about merging your chrome browser "if you have one" from the mac to your nexus 4, it's quite the smooth experience if you found yourself using google apps from your mac or your iphone and going forward to nexus 4 it's never difficult to get along with it.
