my wifes laptop fell off the couch the other day now the bottom right side of the screen is just a big chunk of white, no cracks in the screen itself. can this be fixed? if so can i do something or do i have to take it into a shop? would it be cheaper to buy a new laptop? Thanks for any help |

It would be simpler to just buy a new laptop. Read about the laptop and try to find what the screens serial number is and find it on a manufacturers website. Then you can order it. |

I do not think you can fix an LCD screen yourself. You will have to replace the whole screen. If it is an Apple laptop and it is out of warranty, then you may as well get a new laptop. They will charge you an arm and a leg. If it is a Windows laptop, then I am not sure how much they will charge you. |

Sounds like the screen will have to be replaced, which means taking it back to where you bought it from. Is it an Apple or is it a Windows laptop? Apple is likely to have good support, but a friend of mine ended up buying a whole new laptop when his Apple was dropped because it was going to cost more than his old laptop was worth to fix. On a Windows laptop you will probably find support is lacking, although you may be able to get the screen fixed. Overall, it will be easiest to just buy a new one. If the laptop is more than a couple of years old you are likely to find that the cost to replace the screen is more than the laptop is worth, however if its only 6 months old or something get the screen replaced for sure. |

No, buying a new laptop isn't cheaper. Just take it to the repair shop, I think you can't repair it by yourself. The screen needs to be replaced. |

If I were you I would hook it up to an external monitor. You can find a pretty decent one for just around $100 to $200. |
