My friend has a Samsung Galaxy Ace and changed the lock to a pattern to add security, but recently forgot his pattern and his phone got completely locked. What should he do?

After a certain number of failed attempts your devices should show a button near the bottom of the screen that allows you to login with your Google Account.

If you put in the correct info for the account (username/email and password) it will unlock and take you to the security settings menu where you can reset your lock or remove it altogether.

He also forgot his Google account...

He would then need to go reset the password. It's a simple process. If "he" still can't figure it out then I'd be very suspicious about whether or not that was truly his phone.

Reset your Google account password on a computer then proceed to unlock your phone.
