Why is it that people want a 3G/4G networking iPod touch in the future?

This to me doesn't make any sense. If you want to text while on the go and be on the Internet everywhere, you can just have an iPhone, yet people have been hoping for a 3G/4G iPod? Why? This doesn't make any sense!

Just a suggestion, you could post that in the answer section bellow.

And my thinking behind this is that after the extra cost of the iPod Touch (with a 3g/4g plan) compared to the iPhone, it makes it more worth it to just get the iPhone.

I don't make enough calls to justify a voice plan, but I would love to be able to be connected to the Internet while on the go. Better yet, I would like to have both a data connection and GPS so that I can use my favorite geolocation apps (but even without the GPS it would still make quite a bit of difference).

If Apple comes out with a more affordable iPhone, does people are going to disappear

Yes I do agree but the iPhone 5 is more affordable than say the iPod Touch 5th gen (or future generations which is the device people currently want 3g/4g in) but the iPod Touch 5th is $300, making it $100 more than the iPhone 5. Assuming people want to stay up to date with their generation, it would most likely be more affordable to just buy the latest iPhone instead of the latest iPod Touch that may have 3g/4g.

But that is in a contract , when I talk affordable is prepaid and post paid

Yes, but in this situation, IF apple adds 3g/4g to an iPod Touch, then it would be on contract.

Not really, I live in Latin America and most people here buy it prepaid.

Now that would make sense.

I'd think it'd be prepaid like the iPad's data.

data plans are overpriced and a ripoff so it is always bad value.

if it works well with a bluetooth headset then you can save money by trying to get google voice to work, or using a skype voice plan if you don't make many calls.

Hard to argue with that!

The ipod 5 isn't more expensive than the iPhone 5 the only reason it is $300 is because it has 32gb at the starting storage amount and the $200 iPhone only has 16gb

Well yes but in terms of BASE LINE, you can get the latest iPhone for less than the iPod Touch 5th gen. currently.
