Do you think that it's too late to buy the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display now that it's almost five months old? At over $2,000 it's quite an investment, so I would want to buy something that had the longest product life span possible. The 13-inch came out a few weeks ago, so do think Apple will refresh the Retina MacBook Pros next year around this time instead of around when the 15-inch came out back in June?

Only people that would know would be Apple themselves. Personally I don't think there is a refresh coming til late spring, early summer time at WWDC. I could be wrong but hey... So around May, June I'm predicting...
But really you have to ask yourself that question, and that question is always tricky. You don't want to upgrade now because something better might come out in a couple months but honestly, you'll never actually buy the thing. Buy it if you like what it currently offers, or don't! :)

Personally, I'd hold off. Since it's a first generation product, it's clearly expensive. I'd expect for it to either reduce in price next year or give you more bang for your buck. I find it hard to justify paying what's currently offered.

Mac's have good resale value so there's that to bear in mind come next year, new Haswell chips are out next year so as well as a larger SSD on the base model i'm hoping the chips will be introduced in which case i will sell my Retina Pro 15" and upgrade where i hope i'd only have to come up with a couple hundred extra after the sale of my Mac which given the extra upgrades works out good for me
