Basically, We're in December 2012. As the online rumor mill has it, the new Android phones/iPhones will be coming to the global markets starting from around May '13. Now, I previously had a question here that showed that I had a little problem with my current phone (a second-hand Vodafone UK HTC Sensation) and the final answer was to try out either a new battery or rooting the phone. I tried the first one, which didn't help, and then stomped on the second one because for some reason, I couldn't find a custom ROM that was 100% guaranteed to work if I root my phone (as it is a branded one). So i was just fed up of trying to find another solution (as I pretty much tried them all).......
So, I have 2 choices: 1) Replace this Sensation with another Sensation (this time UNBRANDED) that I can get from someone I know, and buy a new phone next year,
2) Sell of my current one, then buy a new one now (Either the Galaxy S III (the International version) or the HTC One X), and be done with it (As I'm hoping to get AT LEAST 2 full years out of my phone).
Now, if it's the second choice, As I've already said, I'm gonna buy either the S III or the One X. I already did some research and found some rave reviews for both devices, and saw some photo/video samples (which the S III kinda dominated, especially in videos) as well as the UI,display, build quality (in which the One X dominated) and the specs (which are in close contention). But the thing I'm missing is an actual user review for the S III. I have a friend who has the One X and have tried it myself (and it is FANTASTIC), and my little research tells me that the race is close but the S III is kind of "superior".
Help is appreciated.

I would hold out, especially if you are after an Android phone. We are a few weeks out from CES, no doubt we will see something announced there as well as the Mobile World Congress in February. The MWC will definitely see some cool new android devices, not guaranteed but Samsung could show up there. I say not guaranteed because they decided to go down their own routes this year. But yes I would hold out at the moment.

I like all of the answers to your question so far. But to answer your specific question at the end of your post: Go with the One x over the SIII. You, yourself said it was "fantastic." I have used both and frankly preferred the build and the UI of the One X. It's just more sophisticated all around. I hate "touch-whiz" on the SIII and will never purchase a device with it. Probably the only reason the SIII seem "superior" is because it's prolific and so there is more positive feedback out there. I, myself, have paid full price for the Nexus 4 to keep my phone upgrade handy for, as others have pointed out, the next line of offers after spring.

I would just get the unbranded Sensation and put a custom ROM on it and get a new phone next summer. Supposedly the SIV and the iPhone 5S will be released around that time. Plus, the community for the Sensation is great. I use to have a Sensation 4G before I switched to the Nexus. I highly recommend either the CyanogenMod or Viper ROMs for the Sensation. So basically either you want pure Android or Sense 4+. Your choice. But in my opinion this isn't the time to get a new phone. The One X was released in March followed by the SIII in April/May time. Just be best to wait it out.

I dont own an sIII but i have a note II which runs touchwiz UI and it is extremely similar. I suggest you get an SII. But if you dont mind doing more research i suggest you look at the nite II. Non pentile, 2gb of RAM, Quad core, LTE,TRUE multisaking (2 apps on the same screen at the same time) Spen, and did i mention? A HUGE 5.55 INCH DISPLAY!!!
