I work at my school and I am in charge of our iMacs(10,1).
I have been researching and developing a system to manage our iMacs.
Our System is: An AD network for user accounts from our district (with network share points, known as P Drives). xServer 10.6.8 set as OD master 40+ iMacs 10+ new Macbook Pros
My goal: I want to set up portable accounts that are stored on our P Drives, Sync on Login, and Sync on logout. Since we do a lot of video production I want to have them sync at a later time when the network is not used as much and no users are using the iMacs. (11pm -4am maybe)
Issues: to access the P Drive the user has to log into their account. Multiple users use the macs everyday.
I want to back up each user's data to their P Drive late at night. I have used Workgroup Management but that only allows for when the user logs in, I need something that works when the user is not logged in since it takes too long for data to be transferred with all the users accessing our server and because of bandwidth issues.
Also if there is a way to do this with the Macbook Pros while they are closed at night, that would be amazing! not needed, just be cool to have.
