I have recently gotten an iPad Mini for Christmas and for a while I was extremely excited. After about 3 days the screen has started to annoy me. I have an iPod touch with retina display so the lacking of pixels was very evident to me. I had three reasons for purchasing the iPad mini, I liked the design, size, and price. However I did not originally think the screen would be a problem however I now feel like it is a large issue. Recently I have heard rumors about an iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 coming in March. This troubled me deeply considering how soon we may have an iPad mini. Also considering that the rumors of last year were so correct that I feel like this could certainly happen. My final question is should I return my iPad mini or should I keep it and deal with the screen?

This is really up to you. If you really don't like it, return it. If you still don't mind it, keep it. Technology gets refreshed though, so don't expect to have the latest for very long (at most a year).

I think it really depends on what you use it for. I use it on a daily bases to read news articles and borrow digital copies of text and reference books from my university library. I don't care how many new versions come out over the next few years because this one does what I want it to do, and it does it well. I think the iPad mini is the way it is because of price. I think it is aimed at a different target market to people who would buy a full blown iPad with retina display so you may not see a display upgrade very soon. Apple wouldn't want to affect sales of the more expensive tablet in the line up too much would they. If your purchases are just being influenced by rumours, you'll never really be satisfied because there will always be a newer version in development around the corner. Thats how the companies manage to stay afloat with all those engineers, so if you're constantly waiting for the next one, when will you actually be satisfied enough to make the purchase.
In short, keep it if it does what you want to use it for. If it doesn't then i'd question why you asked for one in the first place, get rid of it and get the device thats more suited your needs. As you say it is a "large issue," and you feel you can't live with it then I strongly recommend you just sell it.

If you do feel that the screen is a problem then I feel you should return it. The iPad Mini is something you should enjoy and you don't want to be using your iPad in April and regretting not having the retina screen. If design price and screen are your major reasons for buying the iPad Mini then you shouldn't worry about future iPad Mini as it is unlikely the design and screen quality will change dramatically after the March event. It is more likely that faster hardware will be used in the iPad Mini 3 then better screens as we saw with the iPad 3-4 where the speeds of the iPad 4th Gen were much improved over the 3rd Gen but the screen quality stayed the same. All in all if your willing to wait a few months then you will probably find your self enjoying the iPad Mini a lot more without regret.
