So i'm fluent in Cinema 4D, but I want to start modelling characters, a lot of people say Maya is better and "Easier" to create characters and joints etc.. But I've been using Cinema 4D for a long time now and others say that Cinema 4D is better than Maya for modelling characters. I think it'd be easier for my to stick with Cinema 4D and learn to use the specific tools I need to create characters, but I was just wondering:
1 - If its worth learning an entirely new program just for one aspect of 3D & 2 - If it is genuinely better to model characters in Maya?
Please only answer if you know about this topic, I don't want guesses. Thank you. :)

Unless your place of employment uses a particular title, use what you feel comfortable with. It might help to watch some Maya character modeling tutorials to get a third person feel of the tools used. You could also try one of the free versions to see if you want to invest the time it takes to become competent in a new 3D suite.
I started out with Bryce and then about 10yrs ago I found Blender and I've been using it ever since.
Purpose does play a role though. Are theses going to be Game, CG or CGI characters?

For animating an already created character, then maya is really good (makes animation a GUI based point and click process).
if you need to add details to a character, then autodesk mudbox is really good.
