Thought it would be interesting to ask this question...
Come on Kevin. It is Geek related.
Lets keep it around PG rated. Or at least PG13 rated
What do you mean by that?
I do wish to point out that Furries are more then what CSI portrays them to be... that said i still feel the closing of the question is justified.
The way that question was posed, it sounds more like a Craigslist Personals ad than a valuable question. Kevin, would you be opposed to a more well-formed question than "Any geek furries here?" A discussion on the perception of furries could be quite valuable. (In fact, I believe the furries movement began at a science fiction or comic book convention.) Contrary to the media's portrayal, they seem to be as legitimate and acceptable as cosplayers. From the Wikipedia entry on "Furry fandom":
"According to Furry survey, about half of furries perceive public reaction to the fandom as negative; less than a fifth stated that the public responded to them more negatively than they did most furries. Furry fans' belief that they will be portrayed as "mainly obsessed with sex" has led to mistrust of the media and social researchers."
Perhaps a question like, "Are cosplayers and furries the same?" If the question is popular enough, it may get picked up and answered on LockerGnome.com. Chris allows a little bit of spice, after all.
