I'm American and use the Metric System in all life occasions. Temp=Celsius, Speed=km/h.. What do you think of the simple measurement system? 10 base units ftw!

I like SI units (no longer officially referred to as metric). It's much easier to remember that 1 KM = 1000 M compared to 1 Mi = 8329478281 feet. Even though I am a conservative, and I love President Ronald Reagan, I think that he made a mistake not going through with Metrification in the US.

For some purposes it's nice to be able to have 1/2s, 1/3s and 1/4s with resulting integers as opposed to the infinite decimals you get with thirds. For instance scale modeling. To make a 1/3 scale model with the metric system requires a lot of either fudging or rounding and could result in inaccuracy. Having a standard may not be a good idea. Maybe we should just learn them both and use them where they make sense.

Here in Canada I deal with the metric system all the time. And also use the imperial standards that the US uses from time to time. It all depends on what you need from either one of them. Most of the time when you need to convert from one to the other there will be some small tool out on the internet that will help you with either one or the other depending on your needs.
