If you created an internet browser what features would it include. (it needs to be possible e.g no dogs jumping out of the screen)

  • Minimum amount of nonsense in the window. I really liked IE6's interface; Chrome seems pretty good too.
  • When I hit ESC, that means stop. That does not mean if you feel like it.

The ESC key doesn't do that much anymore. The only time I ever use it now is when I want to come off full screen.

I agree. Very few browsers want to STOP if you tap the Esc key

Firefox stops if you press the ESC key.

"Firefox stops if you press the ESC key."

FireFox just stops without the Esc key!

Speed, and simplicity. But I also want it to be able to do have common browser functions such as bookmarks. I also like them to have the ability to have add ons if I choose to do so.

Good example: Google Chrome

Speed, and reliability in my browser. I don't really want extra things that will slow down the browser

  • Ability to view web pages following the latest standards released by the W3C
  • Fast page rendering; but effective rendering
  • Light usage on computer hardware
  • Ability to extend and customise the functionality - plugins such as xmarks, AdBlockPlus, Firebug and The Web Developer Toolbar
  • Clean, simple and easy to use interface
  • Bookmarks with folders/seperators etc

What i look for in a web browser is simplicity and speed.

Also compatibility and low system resource usage, good bookmark management and add on capability.

Stability I have to use IE 8 at work as I don't have administrator privileges and can't put another one on my PC, and it crashes a lot. I don't mean to slag IE but it does seem to freeze up and close down itself quite a bit. Fire Fox does do this but it recovers itself quite well.

Security, Speed, Simplicity and Customization. In that order of importance.

I want a few things:

  • Secure from common exploits used.
  • Quick loading pages.
  • Stable and won't freeze/slow down when it comes into contact with a page containing plugins.
  • A nice API for add on or plugin developers to add useful extensions to the browser.
