Hi I am thinking of buying an Amazon Kindle as an E-Reader but i have a few questions about functionalities as i have not had the chance to test a live one.

Is there the option to install a dictionary app or is one installed so that when I am reading a book and want to lookup a word i can click on the word i want to define and it gives me the definitions for it without having to close the book i am reading?

One of the main reason's i am looking at the Kindle vs other readers is because the screen looks very matte. I stare at a computer all day and work and the lights from the computer screen are hard on the eyes. But the kindle screen from what i can determine looking at the video almost looks like you are looking at a matte piece of paper. Hence it would not be hard on the eyes. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I can't answer about the Kindle device, since I don't own one myself. But I will offer some advice about buying one; if you own a Blackberry or iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad, there is a Kindle app for these devices, so don't waste your money. There is also a Kindle app for Windows and Mac OS X, if you prefer that.

The number of Kindle devices being sold is going down, because of the fact that you can read Kindle books for free on a Blackberry and iPhone.

My main reason for wanting to buy a Kindle over the products you mentioned is the screen. I don't want to feel like im looking at a computer screen at night when i am reading because i spend all my day in front of a computer at work.

The kindle's screen looks very matte almost like you were looking at a piece of paper.

The fact that the Kindle has been on a decline though scares me a bit i would hate to buy tons of books and then have my product discontinued and have to buy those books again on another reader when i want to upgrade in the future.

I'm sure even if Kindle devices eventually become discontinued, the Kindle books will still sell via the apps on the mobile devices and computers. Amazon is making more money from the Kindle books than they are the Kindle devices. Which is one of the reasons they released the Kindle app to "competitors" of the Kindle device, because they know the money is in the books themselves.

Also, right now Amazon is having a "free two-day shipping" for Father's Day. So if you want one now, and don't want to pay for shipping, now is a good time. Amazon also plans to sell Kindle devices in ALL Target stores soon (only select Target stores sold them, soon they all will), which is a sign that the device itself is not going away any time soon.
