Personally, I don't mind simple text ads but I despise any ad that pops up and over the main site content.

If a site has a single ad, be it text or a single graphic, how much do you dislike that?

Are there any types of ads (graphic versus text ads) that you tend to click on more than any other? Has anyone clicked on any of the text Google ads on this site or do you have them blocked ?

Background: I have placed text ads on my side and color coordinated them to blend in very cleanly, but I have been considering using a vertical banner ad, instead. Responses here will guide me in future revisions.

I look forward to your input.

Dan

I don't like ads. They distract me. If you accidentally roll your mouse over the wrong add it might fill the entire screen with some thing you don't want to see. Some adds can infect your computer with a virus if you accidentally click on them. Personally, I think all ads are bad, but if you put them on your website (like me) they could make you some money.

I agree 100,000% on the ads that take over a web page!

What ad service are you using on your web site?

Do you feel that Google Ads are safe from virus infection?

I hate ads that are animated, or have audio. Not that I really care for any ads at all.

Audio ads are another. Good point!

Has anyone seen graphic Google Ads that have audio or popups ?

I really don't notice ads on most websites. I don't like popup ones, or the ones that make a page not load right. I also hate the videos that play automatically.

Oh yes, I forgot about the video ads. Yes, those are on my bad list. Every time I get one of those, I can see my usage meter ticking away...

I don't like any ads. They try to distract you from what you are doing and are mostly:

  • A waste of my time
  • Spam
  • Something you will never buy

Interesting. I never thought of them as spam, but I can see that, especially on sites that are flooded with ads. I use the popular weather sites as an example with ads flashing and interrupting the flow of the sites and increasing load times.

If a site as a single ad and is positioned where it does not distract from the content, are you still 100% anti-ad?
