I am absolutely certain that money comes first before anything. What examples can you give. Here is what i think, to get things started.

  1. If a cure for the common cold was invented it would never be released because of all the medication that would never sell again. Money.
  2. Hillary Clinton is not happy with the cozy relationship Brazil & Iran have because of commerce. Money.

He was asking other's opinions about whether money comes first or not, and examples to support it.

Your question makes a number of assumptions that I think are a little shall we say dark. While it isn't impossible to imagine multinational corporations attempting to curtail innovation if there is a profit motivation, it is unlikely that a cure could be suppressed once it was created. More likely is that likely curative ventures are just not getting funded, so the cures are not getting identified.

With the innovation that we have seen in the last 40 years, expect to see much happen in healrhcare BUT understand that major innovations in healthcare are going to be based upon the genetics, not pharmacological foundation over the next 20 years.

It should be exciting...
