well, you can always damage it physically...i.e. taking a hammer and smashing it, dropping it in water, drop it down the stairs, I would go with overheating it...but that may lead it to overheat...and actually catch on fire...

I see a lot of people with dirty dust filled computers, that overheat and are slow as *#$&! Heat destroys hardware!! Keep your computer clean and cool!

The absolute quickest way to ruin a computer is to do something that destroys the hardware, such as dropping or driving over it or dunking it in a pool of water. Obviously, you can ruin a computer before you even unbox it, if you do enough damage to it in this way.

Not having good ventilation for the fans / vents on your computer. You'll overhear your computer and burn out your cpu / gpu

It seems like I fix a lot of computers with LimeWire...

Windows XP is actually enough out of date that you can contract something immediately after reformatting. I make it a point to have an antivirus running BEFORE I attach the network cable to even run Windows Update.
