I hate it when very good games don't sell as well as they should, just because the publisher didn't have enough funds to advertise as heavily, as say "Some Big Joe Shmoe Developer". For example, a game to comes to mind is Bayonetta, fabulous game but didn't sell as well as it should have, in my opinion.

additionally, another one of my favorite RPG series (The Tales series) never gets much attention here in the states (though I hear it is a big sensation overseas in Japan). It is a very fun game, and it gets great reviews, but I guess the US just doesn't have the right audience for this type of game, and also with the combination of lack of advertising like you stated.

I had never heard of Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Then when Uncharted 2 came out, it had such amazing reviews.

I really felt like Indigo Prophecy was an amazing game, and was severely underrated. I believe they re-released it on the xbox live marketplace, but come one! It was my first enjoyable psychological thriller type game. Instead of a life bar, your character has a mental stability bar. Get too low, they may even kill themselves (while it sounds gruesome, I felt it to be very awesome, and in my experience, a first).
