I would use HDMI if your device supports it. It is becoming the High Definition standard for viewing full 1080P video.
Component though is also a pretty good cable system if you just need to view 1080i or 720P video. Ultimately it just comes down to what you need to use the cables for and what the devices support.

I think HDMI has some great advantages, and a few detractors. The detractors are that they can send copyright kills through HDMI, but if you have a copyrighted Bluray disk it probably won't play with component anyway.
Go with HDMI and get your cables at monoprice.com. They make amazing cables and they are DIRT cheap.
