Star Trek for sure, has to be, no contest. Tech wise for sure |

Well your forgetting about the Death Star my friend. No Star Trek technology could destroy a planet this quickly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djZFHTa6TfA |

Many of Star Trek's have come to fruition. Communicators, wireless headset, replicator (well, sort of, with rapid prototyping tools)... |

I would first like to make this very clear. I love both universes. Star Wars has some great stuff, and Star Trek has some great stuff. That being said, there is no contest in terms of technology. Star Trek is the winner by far. Let's break this down one piece at a time. Hand Lasers: Both had lasers of varying degrees. However, it has been demonstrated time and again that Star Trek's lasers are stronger. Star Wars has quick bursts of laser fire that moves slowly and will do anything from burn someone to knock off a limb. Star Trek has continuous beams of lasers as well as the short bursts and even energy balls. They can do everything from stun without damaging to incineration. Body Armor: Both rarely ever use any kind of personal protection that is effectual, but when they do attempt to protect themselves Star Trek is more efficient and practical. Star Wars has basic armor. Lasers can cut through it under constant fire. Star Trek has personal shields. These shields, while having low energy when not attached to the borg, can stop just about any energy discharge. Melee Weapons: I'll have to give Star Wars a point here, they do seem to have the better of the two. Star Wars has, beyond a doubt, the best melee weapon. The lightsaber is a concentrated beam of energy with what seems to be an unlimited power source. Not even requiring a sheath, the lightsaber can be discharged and stored with ease. Star Trek has typical metal weapons. I don't recall at any time seeing them pull out any melee weapon more deadly than a klingon with a bat'leth. Ships: This doesn't seem close at all. Anyone who is a fan of both shows knows how flimsy the Star Wars ships are. Star Wars has large ships but no shield strength. Even the largest ship can be taken down in one shot if you know where to aim. The design is also rather poor when the weaknesses literally stand up to be shot. With their weaponry being larger versions of their hand lasers, the best thing they have is the Death Star. It can destroy a planet in one shot. Star Trek, on the other hand, is significantly better. Their ships may be a bit smaller on average, but their shields and high powered weapons more than make up for their size. Tack on maneuverability and you've got an easy victory. Several varieties of phaser fire, torpedos, and even deflector beams if they have a good enough engineer, their weapons are nothing short of devastating by comparison. To compete with the Death Star's planet destroyer, there is a ship that was designed to take out actual moments in time, altering history. Not to mention the planet eater. And any starship from galaxy class on up can destroy a planet. Misc: Star Wars has nothing on the extras that Star Trek has come up with. Food Replicators, Transporters, Entire Holodecks, Androids with Free Will and Emotions, Mobile Emitters, and even something as simple as their Warp Drive easily defeats what Star Wars can do. The closest match is the drive the Millennial Falcon had, and that had two speeds, on or off. Star Wars, on the other hand, did perfect cloning. Star Trek is lacking in that department. Final Verdict: Fan boys will be fan boys. They will never accept one side winning over the other. Take it from a fan of both, however, Star Trek easily wins in the technology department. The video linked in the original topic started off close, but then they ran with a single shot from the Death Star. They could have dodged and resumed while the Death Star was recharging. That's my opinion and logic. |

Star Wars FTW. The lightsaber shall never be beaten! |

Star Wars for sure. There are other people besides Jedi's in Star Wars so blasters DO exist. if a Trek shot at a jedi, they would simply deflect it back at him. not only that but: they have better ships they dont need to be beamed down to planets, can just land Jedi's force powers such as mind tricks and push lightsabers are more complicated then you think (such as the use of crystals) Kids become jedis at a VERY early age and ready for battle as a teen holograms more creative planets need anymore? |

Star Wars for sure. First off, ships in the SW universe DO have shields. Quad turbo-laser's and Death Star class super lasers just pack a huge amount of firepower. Then of course, lightsabers, blasters, droids, the iconic X-Wing. The Falcon. Cloud City. An Imperial Star Destroyer II is about 2.5 times bigger than the Enterprise-D, packs far more weapons arrays, shields, tractor beam emplacements, plus various TIE Fighters, Bombers, Interceptors, Defenders. The Skipray Blastboat which has nearly the firepower of a capital ship in a vessel about the size of an X-Wing. Boarding craft carrying elite Stormtrooper squads that I won't even go into. The Enterprise-D is supposed to have 12 Phaser arrays, but I have no idea where they all are. 3 torpedo launchers. No attack/support craft. You can't beam through shields. The engineering section is highly vulnerable. Long and short of it is: There's nothing like a good blaster at your side, kid. I'll take a DL-44 over a phaser any day |

Star Wars. Sure, Star Trek has teleporters, but the Enterprise wouldn't last one second "against the full force of this fully armed and operational space station". |
