My notebook has the Inter core 2, is there really a difference compared to the i3?

The Core 2 Duo uses an older socket and is only dual core. The Core i3 uses the new LGA1156 socket so you can easily upgrade to an i5, or i7. The Core i3 is a dual core processor that has hyper-threading so it will act as a quad core.
