I want to use Evolution to check my GMail in Ubuntu, but each time it tries to connect to the IMAP server (imap.gmail.com:993) it refuses to connect.

Do you know of anything I could try to get it to work?

Yes, IMAP is enabled in my GMail account.

Have you tried entering your full gmail address as the username?

It won't work without a full address. Also check your password - I know it is simple but it can save a lot of time if it is just that
