Will Apple expand iAd?

Do you think that Apple could do this to compete with companies like Google with thier ad service. iAd is already in HTML so it would be easy.

iAd is an HTML5 based ad system. This allows a lot of flexibility in moving it around to other platforms. I can easily see Apple using iAds to make their mobileme service free, by adding it to their web applications. I can also see it even expanded to the desktop in Mac OS X if the iAds framework is ported over.

Other than this, I do not see Apple expanding, they're quite clear they are not trying to compete with Google directly in the advertising market, iAds is strictly for Apple's own products and to help it's own developers bring in a profit, along with even more control over their products (as they don''t need to worry about a 3rd party uncontrollable ad system).

Great idea to use it in mobile me to make it free.

It might be possible for Apple to do something like that, but they're probably going to keep it on their iOS devices only.

Definitely Apple expands everything they do (with the exeption of Apple TV), The question is "Will iAd succeed"...

What do you mean "with the exception of Apple TV"?

I think they will. Since it's an HTML5 ad system, and the web is going HTML5 more and more every day, they'll probably be the first company to offer ads on the HTML5 web sites.

It would definitely be very easy to transfer it to the web. That would be cool
