What is the Advantage/disadvantage thing about online shopping ?
You don't have to go to the store
You don't have to wait in queue
You don't need to carry it to your home (from the car to your home"if it is heavy")
The exhaust gas from the truck is hazardous
You need to pay extra money if you want it to arrive faster

You need to wait a couple of days before you get it.

Shipping returns can be a pain in the hindquarters (but Amazon.com rocks, especially if you're dealing directly with them or a large, respected 3rd party reseller.)
Items may be delivered to your home in an obviously damaged condition, but if you're not home to refuse receipt, there it sits. In a physical store, you can weed out the damaged item(s) on sight and buy the product that doesn't look like it's been drop-kicked by a mule.
If you receive something as a gift, and the gift giver bought it online, making a gift exchange can sometimes be a hassle versus returning an item to a local store with a local receipt.
It's a lot easier, and more convenient, to find the best price on a given item, including active coupon codes... and you don't have to visit 5 different stores in your area, or call each of them, to determine who has something in stock.
You can see through all the marketing crap on a product's box and look up all the relevant specifications, claims and warranties mentioned.
You don't have a "helpful" customer service rep hovering over you when you don't need their assistance nor the equally annoying instance where all available reps are clustered in a no-eye-contact huddle when you finally do require their assistance.

The main disadvantage is that any of your information that you send online can be stolen.
However, if you shop online, you don't have to leave your home. Also, when shopping for clothing, it's more probable that your size will be in stock. Some people even say that shopping online is better for the environment because there's no store between you and the warehouse.

don't have to get out & hunt down the item in question *Usually a better price online, ven WITH shipping fees
don't have to worry about whether or not I can handle the shopping trip. I have chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia as well as other health & mobility issues. *It's a greener alternative to getting out to go shopping *Saves me $ in other ways as well -- no parking fees, no having to buy crappy food from the food court, no wasted gas hunting down an item/comparison shopping *Saves time
*the waiting time *sometimes it can be FUN to go shopping *not able to handle the goods to check them out
We didnt have a car for about 4 years, and online shopping was a real godsend for us. Heck -- we even do some of our grocery shopping on line these days. :-)

Advantage: You can do a lot more shopping around in less time from your computer.
Disadvantage: You may not be home when the package arrives, which may result in further schedule conflicts or having to go drive to the distribution center and pick it up yourself, thus eliminating some of the biggest perks.
