In what way. You receive, sent and read emails, what do you want to be simplified ?

(Jun 14 '10 at 20:15) SparksMaker SparksMaker's gravatar image

i think email is one of the simplest things out there, the actual protocol that email is could not get any simpler. your email client could possibly get simpler, but the protocol that is email is simple.

yeah, but couldnt email be faster and more easier to write and maybe at some polint they could combine HTML5 to have videos in emails, what do you think?

(Jun 12 '10 at 00:19) CTCB CTCB's gravatar image

emails are super fast, in fact text emails are almost instant, larger emails with video's and files attached to them are only dependent on the internet connection speed of the two parties.

I can not think of a way that an email would be easier to write, its just typing, you could even handwrite it and scan it in if you wanted.

But over time video WILL be compressed even more and be able to be streamed or sent at a better and faster rate over time

(Jun 12 '10 at 00:55) CTCB CTCB's gravatar image

this is true, but video compression will not change email, email is email, video is video. They are two different things. most emails will link out to sites like youtube as video's get smaller and it is more acceptable to stream them ultra fast. email will continue to be the same, its just other media formats that are improving.

@christhecoolboy Faster and easier to write? Are you kidding me? How difficult is it? What could possibly be done to make it any easier? An interface like something Stephen Hawking uses? Or maybe put on a bluetooth hat that reads then sends your thoughts?

Email is simpler than you think. It can't get any simpler.

How about combining video to make it more multimedia with possible text?

I think Google Wave is trying to simplify email, but I for one hate Wave. I find it confusing and just time consuming. I prefer my old fashion email.

I havent really tried google wave yet...

(Jun 12 '10 at 00:27) CTCB CTCB's gravatar image

ya, Google Wave was a great concept, however due to no one using it and poor practicality it has failed. email is one of the best forms of non verbal communication

Is putting video in emails supposed to me groundbreaking? I did that back in 2003, while working for a company called Eurobate.

This was one of the first I made: http://www.eurobate.com/epost/axe/

Quite simple - a flash video embedded in an HTML-mail.

no its not mate, and you are correct, people are just getting confused on what email is and what it does.

(Jun 12 '10 at 04:54) thrashintosh thrashintosh's gravatar image

While I don’t have a problem with emails that contain video per se, Videos in email would up the bandwidth requirements tremendously when many users at once download videos. It would also make email MORE complex, NOT less complex.

Email is pretty simple for the end user as is & making it simpler would just limit the end users options.

No it didn't. Its the same email client that's been around since the first iPhone.

no, i think e-mail is one of the easiest things to do on a computer and don't think it could be simplified anymore. hotmail could bring out a desktop app for quick e-mails instead of loading up your browser which could be slow on some computers.

Is it possible for E-Mail to get simpler? I think twitter is more complicated then E-mail. So making a E-mail like a thread would not work. Well, that is except for www.threadbox.com I like that, but I haven't really had a need for it yet. There is one way to make it simpler. If all Spam e-mails would go away it would be a lot better. So:

Less Spam - A possible way

Threads - A possible way.
