Apple has just released the new safari and it is better then ever. They have brought back the loading bar but have still kept the spinning (busy) sign. Is there a speed difference. Well I really can't tell at this moment, all I can tell is that top sites loads way faster. Another thing is that the HISTORY tap in TOP HITS look. All in all it is a real improvement and I do fell that the status bar at the top made a lot of people happy. So is safari the next big browser? Well I don't know about that. Internet Explore just plain sucks, opera works good (i had some downloading issues), Google Chrome takes way to much memory, maxthon 3 I like but don't know how to open another window(Ctrl N does not work), and safari 5 very good for what I need it. You may choose what you need,(just don't choose IE).

I'm using it as my primary browser in windows, and I haven't got to use all of the features yet, but the best one for me is the reader view. I have also noticed a speed improvement over Safari 4 and google chrome. I will aslo have a full review soon on my blog iteknology.blogspot.com !

I like the new "Reader" feature, a lot! Firefox and Chrome have an extension that does a similar job, but Safari 5 has it in by default.

I like the reader feature but chrome has an extension for that and safari is slow compared to chromium so its a no go for me :)

From the start I've seen good and bad things. There were a few bad bugs that recently got fixed. I love Safari Reader and am now using it quite often. I notice the developer tools have been tweaked and work a little better, and there is a slight speed boost I noticed when checking the page load timeline in the debugger tools.

Since Safari 5.0.1, I have now been using Safari Extensions and am very impressed in how it was implemented. I now have quiet a few extensions, from Rotten Tomatoes to a full fledge Blogging tool built in, along with more web developer tools to extend Webikt's. There's some extensions that still need work, a neat little one that makes your tabs become viewable like Mac OS X's expose feature is interesting, but still a bit rough.

i still dislike using Safari on Windows. it plain sucks. i have had little experience with it on Mac OS X at the apple store. lulz. it didn't seem to bad and quite fast on Mac OS X. Apple really needs to fix their Windows applications :/

Not much, it doesn't seem different from the old one.

I thought I was too flashy, I like it simple, not so many things to look at.

Honestly, I think Safari is just plain slow. I've never liked Safari, and most likely never will. I installed firefox on my iMac and it was 10x faster than Safari. I had to wait 2-3 minutes for Safari to load a page when on firefox I could see it right then and there.

Safari 5.0 was TERRIBLE for me. I've been a Safari user for a LONG time and that just seemed to ruin it for me.. I went through the process of downgrading to Safari 4 since Safari 5 refused to load any pages. Yet.. 5.0.1 did it! I'm using it now actually. Whatever it was the ".1" fixed it. No problems any more. Though I do miss the all black backround on "top sites" in Safari 4 that is not a blueish grayish.. thing.

I like the Reader and the Extensions. Unfortunately, it crashes a lot when I'm on YouTube.
