Do you have any thoughts on the new Lucid Ubuntu (10.04) OS? |
|
I love almost all Linux distributions, and I especially like Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, because the theme fits my desires. I like the dark theme, because it's easier on the eyes, and I really like the control buttons (close, minimize, maximize), because it's not too far from my preferred operating system. |

I love it. I don't like the window control positions, but they are easily movable. I like better social network Integration, and that stuff. It also seems that encryption works better for me. The other thing I don't like about it is the boot screen on the Server version. I don't think a server needs to have a boot screen, but they probably added it to make it more user friendly. |

It's ok. Took me an age to get used to the new dark theme after being so used to human. This can be changed but i've got used to it now. I am a bit bored of the standard gnome menu because so many distributions use this. I have glx-dock installed now which looks a bit like the mac doc, but standard is so easy for new users. Changed a load of other minor layout bits and bobs too. 10.04 did work out of the box with my wireless so it's sitting on my laptop. Compared to Mint on my pc, Ubuntu took ages to get set-up because I find I have to delete and add a lot of applications and it takes ages to get it to look the way I prefer. But it's fast, stable and use less battery power than windows so I can work for longer. |

Nice question, I always like talking about Linux.
