I've heard that many things will become obsolete within the next ten years, such as analog clocks, a standard CD, etc. What do you think will become obsolete in the next ten years?

Flash is destined to be gone within half that time. HTML5 will take over. HTML5 is the future.

Within 10 years HTML6 or possibly 7 will be out.

I know that something like mice and keyboards are going to live on, because people like me that edit code and make videos are people who need to use mice and keyboards. I don't think that they'll be completely gone in the next 10 years unless something else comes along that completely revolutionizes the computer market.

you have to admit it would be a lot of "fun" cleaning code with a touchscreen :))

Gone in 10 years

  1. Newspapers
  2. CD's for sure
  3. non smart phones
  4. Satellite Tv companies
  5. House telephone
  6. Money will be used less, not gone, but starting to go.
  7. Belgium. That country will split in two or north joins Holland, south joins France.

Standard incandescent lightbulbs will be obsolete in 10 years, considering the Federal government and some state governments have already officially mandated new bulb purchases be of CFL lightbulbs.

Speaking technologically, other than the mice (probably in a different form), keyboard (also possibly virtual as much as real), and monitor; just about everything else will be obsolete in the next ten years. Input devices and devices are going to explode during that time so expect that the devices will work together in an interconnected/interdependent manner much beyond the current sync technology. Expect phones, music, computers, and everything in between to become more sophisticated and connected.

Solid state drives. I think hard drives will remain the de facto, due to their technical simplicity compared to SSDs. Cache for HDs will become greater and greater as RAM becomes cheaper and cheaper (which is happening quicker than SSDs). I believe HDs will remain a competitor, speed-wise to SSDs until the dying day of SSDs.

I vote HD dies in favour of SSD/flash-type storage. I wonder if KB/mouse loses to voice command?

DVD/CD- dies in favour of similar confidence media. For now, I like them as 2nd copy until better arrives.

3D, holographic movies within our homes...

Prefer analog clocks~ binary, a close 2nd~ ;)

Those pay per minute phones. I also think things like dial up and CD's and DVD's will become obsolete.
