Should i buy or build a home server? If i buy whats the best option for around $400?

If you want a hardcore home server that you are really going to use for a seriouse purpose then I would build my own. But if you were going to use it off and on sometimes you will be better off buying one, or even using a different type of computer for the server. Right now with a regular home server I have a netbook running Debian as a server.
