I'm asking who your favorite assistant is, not Doctor just to clarify. For the new series, however, I liked Rose Tyler the best. |

It would almost be easier to answer this on a Doctor-by-Doctor basis, but even then it would be difficult! Some of this is probably cheating, as some companions overlap incarnations of the Doctor. In other cases, the Doctor only had/has one companion during a particular incarnation. But I can live with that!
And even this list isn't definitive; there are intriguing companions that could be included: Romana, Turlough, Nyssa, Adric, Martha Jones, K-9, Leela, the Brigadier, etc. There are just too many to play favorites! But that's just one of the many reasons why we love the show, right? |

You forgot Peter Cushing's Doctor... ... I wish I could. lol I'm mostly familiar with the current incarnation(s) of the Doctor and it's quite hard for me to choose a favorite companion, due to their eccentricities and energies in the role. While Rose is definitely easy on the eyes, I think Davies did push the emotional and relationship aspects between her and the Doctor too hard as a romantic connection, so much so that with Freema Agyeman and Catherine Tate, they whole heartedly altered the relationship to the point that Freema seemed to take care of Tennant's Doctor at times, and Tate and him were just best buds zipping through time and space. I really did get a kick out of Moffat and Smith turning the whole relationship thing on its ear with Ms. Pond nearly raping Smith's Doctor the night before her wedding, then bringing Rory along for the ride, who had been somewhat tepid, but really came through as a character in "The Pandorica Opens" and "The Big Bang". I personally wish the next series/season were ready to start airing now. |
