How can you make your own font (online) for free?

Is there a way to make your own font online for free. I with the method of printing a paper, writing the letters on it, scanning,...

It may also be software, but I prefer online.

fontcapture.com isn't free anymore. It redirects you to yourfonts.com . It costs you 9.95$. I want it for free =)
