In your opinion, do you think that Adobe software like Photoshop is too expensive? There are many cheaper alternatives, and I think that if Adobe lowered their prices, they'd get more business.

I think that all software from Adobe is overpriced. Just look at Flash, it costs you more to use it (CPU wear and tear, and overall stress from stuff like crashing internet browsers). If anything, I think that Adobe should be paying you to use their software.

One of the only good things that comes from Adobe is their image and video editing software. I am never going to buy it (or download a torrent), because it isn't worth it.

Agreed. I personally use GIMP instead of Photoshop. It's a really neat little app that packs quite a punch. Plus, it's free!

Flash works perfectly for me and never crashes.

That's because Adobe invested millions into Flash for Windows. I'd hate to see the ratio of what they payed for OS X compared to Windows. I'm quite sure that they've invested at least five times more for the operating system that I don't prefer (Windows).

The should have just kept their money becuase flash still chrashes on Windows. But at least now that Chrome has SandBoxed it, it doesn't chrish the entire browser. I would hate to see/use flash if Adobe hadn't spent that money on it.

Yes. They aim their software at businesses and not at consumers. Therefore, when a consumer wants the power of Adobes software, they have to pay a large premium. The only way you can get this is with an educational discount. If you look at their standards, they are higher than most educational discount standards. I really wish that instead of making lesser software for consumers that for some isn't powerful enough they would make a solution for prosumers and consumers.

It definitely is overpriced. Just look at Adobe Premiere Pro and Apple Final Cut Studio. It's $800 just for Premiere, while for just $200 more you get the whole Final Cut Studio suite which includes Final Cut Pro (Premiere equivalent but better in my opinion), Motion (extremely useful motion graphics software), Soundtrack Pro (awesome sound mixing tool), Color (professional color grading app), Compressor (great video compression tool), and DVD Studio Pro (great program for burning professional looking DVDs). If you have a Mac and want nice video editing software, the decision is obvious (unless price isn't an issue for you). I don't know how they manage keep their prices so high.

Photoshop is one thing that has no true equal, but I think a lot of people realize that at its ridiculous price, it's just not worth the money.

I use Adobe software every day being a professional visual effects artist. I do think Adobe software might be a little over priced but you can't really judge unless you use the software to know what it's worth. But just as LucaGTech has said before they do aim at businesses and not not so much at consumers. If you look at it from a consumer stand point it does seem like much.

Take a look at the video that Chris made about the same topic when a viewer calls in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRZ_sG6ntn8

Back in 2003 or so, Adobe outsourced all of its development overseas. Then they moved all their corporate control overseas and focused on selling overseas development to American corporations. In other words, they not only laid off all of their American workers but they wanted American customers to buy their graphic development services. The market money became a one-way street leaving America with nothing returned. They even had American employees train their own replacement before being fired. This company needs to go down. If you can find any competing products, use them instead and make a permanent boycott.

Their software is definitely overpriced and that's why I use Pixelmator for Mac instead of Photoshop.

I use Adobe on a daily basis. I have the complete Master collection. I'm not bragging, that's what my company got me. Key thing here is it is developed for big business or professional developers. I agree about the overpriced part. If I had to buy it on my own I would definitely look for cheaper equivalents.

One thing I like to say to these types of questions is, you should should make a program that offers the same functionality as the adobe suite and you tell me it's overpriced then.
