Which is prefered for gaming? An NVIDA GTX 295 or an ATI Radeon 5970? Specifically for Higher framerate and maxing out games. |
|
The 5970 is better, it is overall faster and supports direct x 11 which many new games are using (you cant max out those games with out using direct x 11) But for current games in terms of raw processing power needed to max out the games, both cards are overkill for the most part. Keep in mind that just about all game makers target the mid range, to upper mid range video cards. and generally the mid range cards a year from now will be much faster than the overpriced top of the line cards from today. So going with a n expensive card generally means you have a card that is overkill for today's games but not fast enough for tomorrows games. But if you were to put the money that would have gone into the overpriced card and put it to 2 upgrade paths then you will get more for your money by buying a upper mid range card now then another faster one next year. When picking a card, look for the one that supports what you want and performs well at the native resolution of your monitor, going much higher than that will just be overkill and people who do it mainly do it for bragging rights. |

Wait why are you comparing and older card with a new one? They are both meant for gaming. The 5970 takes less power and is still better performing. But that card is like over a year old. |
