I'm looking for some software that will do the basics and also a few, or more, advanced features. It doesn't matter how much it costs. I am currently using Cyberlink PowerDirector. I am looking for something more advanced than that. I would also like to render in HD. Thanks! I am using Windows 7.

After all the film footage is shot, it all boils down to the creative mind doing the editing. It doesn't matter what you choose ... Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier, MovieMaker, iMovie, etc.

For me, I use Adobe Premiere but it is expensive to get. But for simple, I prefer Camtasia Studio by Techsmith (the maker of snagit)

I would say Sony Vegas, a simple stripped down and easier to use version of Adobe's after effects

I find After Effects and a combination of Sony Vegas or Final Cut Pro (Yeah I know sound crazy) is what I find useful.

Most non-pro users on the Windows platform choose Adobe Premiere, which allows some advance forms of editing. If cost is not in the matter, then the market leader for pros is Avid, Avid was original a Mac editor developed in the late 80s, it's what revolutionized the idea of doing digital non-linear editing on computers. Since then it has been the king of editors, only Final Cut Pro truly competes with it in the eyes of professionals.

I use Camtasia Studio 6 for pretty much everything. I like Adobe Air's RichFLV for editing FLV files, though.

The best which I have used is Sony Vegas 9, it seems very stable and can save videos in a variety of different formats.

It's hard to be definitive because it really is just an opinion. But on the other side I use Adobe's or just plain old windows movie maker if it's an easy project. Camtasia also now lets you edit now.

If you have a mac iMovie I hear is the best for what it is.

I'm currently using Camatasia Studio 7 for all of my video editing. I've been using it for like 6 months -before Camtasia Studio 6 and now 7- and I'm very pleased.
