is having 2 DVD/CD drives really worth installing? |
|
For the most part, you will not use both drives very often, unless you have a program which allows you to burn to 2 drives at the same time or do CD to CD copying (rare since many now have DRM which prevents this) multiple drives is good for games that require a CD in, (if you constantly play 1 or 2 games, simply place in both dvd's and you are good to go PS there things to keep in mind though. CD drives use a lot of power even when doing nothing, so you may be adding an extra 2-5 watts power draw to your system by adding an extra drive. adding an extra CD drive will slow your bootup by .3 seconds or more as during the bios post, the system lists all drives Some forms of DRM do not like seeing 2 drives, they will go crazy and think you are trying to steal the game, (some versions of securom and other DRM's will do this) (so you may find your self shutting your pc down and pulling the sata cable from the drive when you want to run a certain game) Some really buggy/ poorly written boot disks made by some people will not run if they see 2 CD drives for some reason. |

get a dvd/cd drive and get a readable bluray drive (to save money cause the read write drives are still pretty expencive) |

If you are coping many disks with a CD/DVD burner and a reader, then it is worth it |
