I just downloaded it, is there any way to set up an automatic download for the nightly update?

No, Chromium does not auto-update. However, here you can get the workings of a batch file that will automatically download and unzip the latest version of Chromium.

If you are on Ubuntu, you can install Chromium through the Chromium Daily PPA. Then you can update it using:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade -y

You can set up that command to run automatically in a Cron job, and then you have an automatic Chromium updater (along with automatic updating of most of the other packages on your system).

If you're in OS X, there is a very easy way to keep it updated : http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/32856/chromatic

Hope this helps! If you're in OS X, that is.

No it doesn't update by itself but you can install third-party software to update it. I use Chromium updater http://mulder.dummwiedeutsch.de/home/?page=projects#chromium
