I am looking at getting an ATI crossfire setup for my computer, and I want to know which combo is the best performance wise and price wise. I plan on playing Halo CE and a few other games, as well as running dual monitors and doing plenty of HD video editing.
More info on ATI Crossfire here: http://game.amd.com/us-en/crossfirex_about.aspx
Crossfire will really only benefit you when it comes to gaming but even then it is a bad deal. Having 2 cards does not mean twice the performance, it is generally a 20-30% performance boost on games that support crossfire and a drop in. performance as compared to a single card when a game does not support it (even if only one card is in use, system resources are being used on the idle card)
For the price of going crossfire, you can generally get a single card that is faster than the crossfire setup in many games.
Also if your motherboard uses shared bandwidth for the pci-e x16 sots then you may end up having one card running at 8x and the other running at 8x. This will cause an even larger performance drop if a game does not support crossfire.
If you want a very good ATI card, I recommend the 5830, it can max out any current game with no problem at 1920x1080+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161327&cm_re=5830-_-14-161-327-_-Product
you wont find a SLI setup for the same price or cheaper than this card that will offer better performance.
