Well, I just recorded this video of my initial impressions, and I must say... I don't think any current Android device can topple what's coming with the iPhone 4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC-Fm6Ztwrc http://chris.pirillo.com/the-problem-with-google-android-its-users/ |

I think that the iPhone has more potential, because Apple controls the hardware and the software in the iPhone. Google makes Android and lets other companies use their operating system. So now Google is forced to update hundreds of different phones at once which makes it harder on Google to make sure that everything works right and that the hardware works well with the software. Windows.Android may one day control most of the phone industry. If Google doesn't restrict Android to be only on their phones, it will be Windows all over again. The argument won't be that the iPhone is the thing that's now in style, it will probably be the thing that works well (sort of like Mac vs. PC). |

I think the best one would be the iPhone 4 because the iPhone has so many new features with the new iOS 4.0 Apple have put allot of effort designing this device. Losing it twice, and making the new iPhone OS 4 to go with it. So then I do think that the iPhone 4 is the best because it gives you loads of things. My dad has got it and I am stuck on it. It is absolutely amazing. Apple has put everything else at the back of their minds and just concentrated on the iPhone 4. With the new Retina display it can view better quality photos, amazing graphics on games and stunning movie quality. The iPhone 4 feels so much more better in the hand then previous models of the iPhone. I am very pleased about this. Before my hand use to slip of the iPhone and I also broke one in a Café. Which was annoying. But I have used the iPhone 4 in the same Café, holding it with the same position and it does not slip or anything at all. The Evo from HTC is still excellent but it is still not as good as the iPhone. No one can beat the iPhone. |

go with the evo 4g i think android is better then iOS 4 |
|
evo just looks fat and ugly. iphone ftw .................................... |
|
this doesn't have chance against the iPhone 4.Really. |
|
i think that the iphone 4 is better than the htc evo because the video is way smoother |

I have the Evo 4G and the beta iOS 4 software on my iPhone 3GS (I'm awaiting shipment of iPhone 4) and I'd still pick my existing iPhone over the Evo. The battery life on the Evo is abysmal so it renders itself useless in about 4 hours. |

They're both worthwhile phones, and it really just depends on what kind of user you are. If you care most about a seamless experience and have never thought "why can't I do _?" while using a past iPhone, stick with iPhone 4. If you don't mind getting a slightly less polished interface in exchange for more flexibility, go with the Evo. Android is very easy to get used to if you're willing to accept the fact it's a different OS and therefore will take some time to adjust. As for me, I bought the Evo. It has more robust multi-tasking, more flexible ways to use the front-facing camera, a beautiful 4.3" screen (while barely being physically larger than the iPhone), and one of my favorite things: widgets. After using Android widgets, I can't imagine using an iPhone that doesn't support such a feature. I have multiple screens to organize as I choose, whether that's simply with app icons, or by adding useful widgets to make my most important information available at a glance. It's true, the Evo doesn't have the best battery life, but it's not all that bad if you turn off features when you're not using them, like 4G, bluetooth, and WiFi, and also reduce syncing intervals for your accounts. To me, it's a reasonable trade-off for the power and flexibility. I get about 10 hours of battery life with moderate use during the workday. Furthermore, if I ever decide that the battery life is a real problem, I can just carry a spare battery - something that's impossible if you're using an iPhone. Like I said, both iPhone and Android have their place, and it really all depends on what kind of user you are. The only person that can make the decision is each individual user, by trying them both out with an open mind. That's what I did (but with iPhone 3GS, not 4), and I couldn't be happier with my decision to buy the Evo. The only wrong answer is to claim that because Android is not for you, that it is not a worthy competitor to iPhone. That's the biggest way in which you go wrong. It doesn't feel like you went into this with an open mind in any way whatsoever. |

Go with the iPhone or the Evo. Sorry for being rude. |

I always love when it's a heated competition between two grey shades like this. Some of the responses here even made me laugh a good deal. For example because the software and hardware are completely controlled by apple, it gives the iPhone more potential?... Really so it being closed to amateur programmers, hobbyists, and third party professionals gives if MORE potential? This entire thread seems to be the biggest attempt group of brand based brain washing I have seen in a long time, even in the iPhones shortfalls it becomes an argument of less is more. So the evo has poor battery life, so does the iphone except android users can actually do something about it and buy an extended or spare battery and the only reason the battery life is poor in comparison is because the widgets and backround processes which are easy to remedy if your not satisfied with the trade off. All of this is setting aside AT&T's insanely poor 3G coverage area and service bandwidth limitations which as far as the phone service side of things NO ONE is doing and being one of the largest telecommunications providers available the lack of investment in their network is all too opaque to ignore. |
