I have heard the term before, what is this? I think it has to do something with an advanced type of dreaming.

A lucid dream is when you are asleep and you realize your asleep and dreaming. It is a very rare occurence because generally you can't tell that your dreaming.

I must be special then because about 80% of my dreams are lucid dreams even though a large majority of those are still nightmare type dreams where I know I'm dreaming but am trapped, I hate my brain hahaha.

Some people have lucid dreams way more often then others. They can also be just nightmares but if you can distinguish your dream from real life you might be able to control it and turn the tides around making it into a nice dream.

They most certainly are lucid dreams because I know its a dream and can distinguish between them fairly easily, I have tried that before and at certain times it works but for the most part I dont have much control while having nightmares lol.

A few months back, I had a nightmare and i became aware it was real, but since it was so bad i forced myself to wake up... since it was too far gone

Its a little bit of everything that the others are mentioning. I did a quick google search into the wiki's to make sure to get you a better definition and some other related information as well. Here's the link for it.

I've heard about this as well when I was listening to some talk radio over here on both the AM and fm dials. It is interesting to some extent.

it means that you know that you are sleeping why you are sleeping and are kindof moving in and out of sleep while sleeping.... such as, you may be thinking this as you are dreaming "ok, i am walking to the door, but my legs arent moving....WTF?" its something like that, it has happened to me before.....

A lucid dream is a dream in wich you realise you aren't in reality, but do not wake up. Some lucid dreamers say they can "controll" the dream, but more often than not, it's just where you realise you're dreaming while you're dreaming.

A lucid dream is when you're asleep and you realizing you're dreaming, and when you realize this you have control of the dream, its pretty rare though.

Happened to me when I was a baby geek... Had a recurring dream and I knew it was a dream, but somehow couldn't get out, I had to 'finish' the dream every single time. Yeah, it was kinda freaky like that...
