I actually took the grade 12 math exam when I was in grade 11 by accident. I was wondering why it was so hard until I looked at the front page.

The most stupid and most painful thing I've ever done was blow out my left knee. How? Not sports (like a normal person might do,) but by doing two mundane, rather ordinary things --

First, I lost my balance on a ladder while hanging Christmas lights. I landed on my feet but slid on wet grass as I caught my balance, and I immediately felt pain in my knee as well as observed swelling.

A couple days later, my knee was still very sore and I missed a step while carrying a loaded laundry basket down our stairs at home; this time, I landed with a loud "POP" and searing pain that dropped me to the ground. I went in for an MRI and discovered these two stupid accidents had resulted in me completely tearing my ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament.)

I had to have it surgically repaired using pieces of my own hamstring muscle which they fashioned into a new ACL and attached to my leg bones with 3 titanium screws. I also did a number on my knee cartilage, so they had to remove up to 40% of the meniscus (cartilage) in my knee.

This was over 5 years ago so I'm fully healed, but I still have to shake my head at my stupidity and klutziness when I see the tree I was hanging lights from when I fell, and I now joke that laundry is hazardous to your (or at least my) health.

MRI report (since the post-op photos are nasty to look at due to all the swelling and bruising) --

The most stupid thing I've done is most likely the time when me and some friends were sledding down the hill in back of our house. The hill is literally right up next to our deck. We kept hitting one of the posts at the bottom of the deck because the hill is slightly slanted towards the deck. I didn't think twice about it after just bumping it two or three times until... I slid down the hill on the sled feet first and smashed into the pole. I put my foot out onto the post to stop. It really didn't feel at all at first seeing as we kept on the rest of the day. The next day I woke up and my foot was swollen pretty bad and hurt like heck. The swelling went down about 3 weeks later and the pain in my toes stopped about two months later.

So it's true what they say, "if you keep hitting a post while sledding down the hill in back of your house near your deck, STOP!" Okay maybe I just made that up but...

But nothing is worse than ageekmom's story!

When I joined the Air Force, I wanted to start quickly and didn't have the patience to wait for a "guaranteed job". As a result, they made me a tactical aircraft mechanic.

Now, as a programmer, that experience does me absolutely no good. But when the company's corporate F-15 breaks down, who do you think they're gonna call? :)

I have done a few stupid things in my life. Not too many and i always say to myself i will never make that mistake again. Most stupid mistakes are not that bad in the end.--- But the stupidest thing i ever did was 20 years ago and worst of all i repeated the same mistake again 2 years ago. It is so stupid i don't even want to talk about it.
