How can I find out whether or not I have a SSD? I have an HP ENVY15 and I ordered the SSD but for some reason when I turn it on I hear spinning and that made me concerned so I did a start up test and it said it was testing the HDD but idk if it would say that simply because it's default to. I don't want to void warranty so I'm not opening it up ($3600 is to much for the risk) so besides that how can I tell what's inside? is there some sort of program that could only run on SSD?

There's no need to open the case, assuming the system is booting up properly so you can go to your System menu and drill down to view your installed Hardware. It will tell you what you have installed (Hard Disk Drive or Solid State Drive) and the capacity.

I am pretty sure it is in the device manager if the computer is Windows. I am not exactly sure...but I am pretty sure it is...just press the winkey and then pause/break. Click on Hardware and device manager.

the computer it self does not care if it is a SSD or HDD. look on the packing slip or call the manufacturer for assistance. the spinning sound could also be your CD drive, there may be some software out there to tell you
you can also right click on the drive under the computer window and click properties and it should tell you exactly what hard drive you have in there, you may need to look it up online to see what kind it is.
