It's not under $150 but it's relatively close and the shipping is free -- http://www.bush-furniture-online.com/Bush-Computer-Desks_WC48561.html 60" desk, $188.95.

I just bought an entire room office suite of furniture from them back in May 2010. Easy company to deal with and if the furniture looks familiar, it's from the same furniture collection Chris has in his office.

Otherwise, check out OfficeMax/Office Depot/etc. -- we picked up a nice basic desk (glass & metal, no drawers) for my husband at one of those stores recently and the benefit there is you don't have to wait for it to be delivered.

For drawers and storage if you want to save money, just check Craigslist or local garage sales & pick up a basic metal file cabinet or two.

Glad I could help. The desk is fairly heavy (solid, built to last.) In the event it arrives damaged in any way, don't hesitate to call the company -- of 8 pieces of furniture I ordered, 2 sustained shipping damage. They immediately, sight unseen, arranged for replacement parts to be sent to me within 5 or less business days.

Why can't all desks be simple in design like this, i have a similar desk it's 6' by 3' when i was looking for my desk, i couldn't believe the amount of garbage out there!

Richard, I apologize but I am somewhat of a do-it-yourselfer when it comes to things like this, especially "on the cheap". Do you have a camera on your Cell Phone? If so, shop around for desks and take photo's of the ones you like. Note the prices also. Most desks have one thing in common, they all incorporate some way of holding up a very flat surface, usually a back, two sides and a top! At one point I used Milk crates and clamps, but I'm not suggesting you do that. (It worked VERY well, by the way). It was also one of my best conversation pieces. Anyway, lock yourself in your bathroom, sit down and repeat to yourself over and over-----"I can do this!!!" Next, go to Home Depot, buy the wood (or scavange for it) and and build the thing with the help of a photo. Garage sales are full of old desks that can be spruced up with a can of (dark) brown laquer. Keep in mind that there is about a 600% markup on furniture. Even though I am NOT a carpenter, I have made most of my furniture with the help of knowledgable friends for a mere fraction of what it would cost to buy it pre-made from some furniture store. I'm joking, but I am also serious --- a simple desk can be easily made and you can add cubbie holes or whatever you want easily. I understand if you have a "time" problem, and if that is the case, check out: http://www.freenapkin.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.pl. There are many websites where people offer items for free just because they no longer need the item and want to help someone else. Thankfully, America is still full of these people. Otherwise, buy what you want and every time you look at it you will think "I could have built that!" Pete
