The new beta of Google Voice just came out today. I was wondering what (if you tried it) think of it. Me I think it is a good service but 1 feature that I am looking for would be the ability to call Skype, as I use Skype a lot for my live calls. What do you think?

I like the idea of Google Voice but I still think Google is going to improve it in many more ways than we could imagine.

Just a minor suggestion related to tagging: Don't you think it would be better to drop the unnecessary tags such as "do, what, of, it, you, think?"

Well, I can see a beneficial. I got a invitation from Google and not from someone. It is good if you want a number in a certain area for someone who does not have long distance calling and be able to look at voicemail and use as a Text message service for free, etc...

Why use Skype? It's not free unless someone else you know is using it too. Google Voice makes calls (and texts) for free as long as it's within the U.S. (I would assume it would be free to call within another country if you live there.)

The incoming number. People can call you for free, as on Skype you would have to pay to get a number

Exactly, it makes more sense to use Google Voice to make calls but Skype's video chat feature is enough of a reason to keep it around as well.

A friend sent me an invite a year ago =0p...

I've been using alt text and thought you might like to try it out. Here's an invitation to create an account.

Google Voice now available to all, but there's a deal-breaking problem > I've been using Google Voice a little over a year, and I've not experienced the mentioned delays?!?

I have an unlimited phone plan, and my phone goes everywhere with me... so this is pretty much just a novelty to me.

Google Voice compliments my phone plan. Features are very useful. The price is right, FREE!

I've been using voice since the beginning. I think they rushed it out. They should have waited longer to release to the public and just kept it a closed system. For example the Voicemail speech-to-word converter sucks.

I'm sure that if it turns out like any other Google product. It's going to be awesome.
