Accessing "Field Test Mode" on iPhone 4 valid?

Is there an iPhone "Field Test Mode" that shows WiFi signal information? In researching "How connect an iPhone/iPad/iPod to a Cantenna", I'll need more detailed WiFi Signal Strength Information. Thank you in advance for your help!

I'm uncertain, but if all you want to measure is the effectiveness of a cantenna vs. no cantenna, get a notebook which has a Wi-Fi card that supports wireless field test software. Place your iPad at location A, take your notebook to location B and use the field test software on your notebook.

My GOAL is to securely plug-in a Cantenna to the iPhone | iPad, and be able to connect to distant wi-fi (blocks away).

The linksys screen cap is the house next to me. And the last screen cap i have seen over 20 open and closed access point populate the radar screen.
