Back in high school (a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...), I met John Cougar Mellencamp (listened to him play at a small party here in Indiana all night, talked to him several times, etc) and an actor named Carlo Imperato. He played the character named Danny on the tv show Fame.

When I was around 20, I met John Goodman, Bruce Boxleitner and Renee Zellewig during the filming of the movie Babe (based on the life of Babe Ruth). I was an "extra" in the baseball stadium having to wear strange clothes from that time period. It was filmed in Danville where I lived at the time.

I've met several NASCAR drivers, but still not Tony Stewart. :(

And I met Eddie Montgomery (from the band Montgomery Gentry). He is AWESOME. :)

Oh.. and that Chris Pirillo dude y'all keep yapping about. I met him once or twice. I seem to recall staying at his house a few times. ;)

Which NASCAR drivers have you met? I want to meet Joey Logano, Mark Martin, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, and Jeff Gordon.

I have met and known people from presidents like Ronald Reagan to singers like Mick Jagger and John Lennon. My friends include Bill Maher, Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock; Rod Stewart, Darryl Hall and Mariah Carey; Sharon Stone, Robert Deniro and Robin Williams plus dozens more too numerous to mention. There are photos of me with many celebrities on my website (www.maxraven.com) but the person that I met that I most admired was Carl Bernstein, author of All The President's Men, who had the courage to take on a corrupt government armed only with his writing skills. He put his life on the line to preserve and protect our freedom. I was surprised to find that he had read my autobiography and that he liked it...strong praise from someone whose writing I admired so much.

I used to play games on the computers at a nearby university where the Denver Broncos also happen to practice, albiet on the far side of campus. One day I was walking through a grassy knoll when a line of golf carts carrying Broncos drove by on their way from practice to wherever. One of them leaned out and high-fived me.

I was playing Solitaire on my phone at the time and was unaware they were even there until I heard the golf cart driving up for a near pass. To this day I have no idea which Bronco high-fived me. John Elway is the only one I can even name.

I met Ramon Hernandez. Catcher for the Cincinnati Reds (I met him while he was an Oriole). While I'm still on baseball I knew Nick Markakis while he was in the minor leagues (my sister claimed him first).

I also met a PGA Golfer when I was three. He let me swing his golf club during one of the commercial breaks (sadly I can't remember which golfer he was, but my dad probably knows).

I have met some famous people in my world, but you probably wouldn't know them. I also probably met some other famous people (I lived right next to the Frederick Keys Stadium in Frederick Maryland, the minor league baseball team for the Orioles).

I met Liza Minnelli at a birthday party on the 4th of July in NYC years ago. We were on the balcony watching the fireworks and she started singing along with "New York, NY" that was being broadcast over loudspeakers. It was pretty incredible.

Your talking about Bryant from the NBA? If you are, you spelled his first name wrong. Its "Kobe" not "Coby"

I'm a space geek/SpaceTweep, so it's not surprising I met both of these gentlemen at a NASA Tweetup back in November 2009:

  • Astronaut Mike Massimino -- he fixed the Hubble Space Telescope (and broke a stuck handhold off, on purpose, when nothing else worked... ;-)

  • Former CNN anchor/correspondent Miles O'Brien -- he reports for Spaceflightnow.com ever since CNN fired all of their science & space team over 2 years ago (lame!) -- down-to-Earth and great to chat with. Most people don't know he courted and received NASA approval to go through astronaut training and, if he passed, fly as the first reporter astronaut. Unfortunately, before he ever got to fly we lost the Space Shuttle Columbia on re-entry over Texas due to (what we all later learned was) catastrophic wing damage suffered at liftoff. NASA killed off any plans to let civilians fly (again) after that.

Jenny's awesome. I first met her in person at the STS-129 NASA Tweetup at Cape Canaveral for the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis back in November 2009. You should follow her husband, @Apacheman as well. He works on the Space Shuttle launch pads.
