I like using iTunes, because it works with my keyboard. For example, when someone calls me, I can press the pause key. That's one reason why I prefer that over using an online based application. I also like to use online based applications, because I can listen to music that I don't have on my computer.

What's your preference?

I like iTunes more than Windows Media Player - better library tools - and music library looks better.

However, I am not a huge fan of iTunes as it is taking up too many resources on my PC. I am currently using CopyTrans Manager which is a much lighter iTunes alternative.

Yes, I've used iTunes as my default media player for as long as I can remember. I haven't found a single program that can compare.

I use Quicktime if I play one single song, other than that, I'll use iTunes to use...so that it can sync up with my iPod.

Every time I use Media Player, it crashes, I also use iTunes because it comes standard with my computer (iMac), and that it works with my iPod. I also love the way the mini player looks; it is so well laid out.

I personally do not use itunes as my default media player . Mostly because it is to slow on my system . :( However when it comes to piping sound into other rooms itunes is awesome . I use it with my aiport express and can play music all through my house =D . I also have a ipod touch and have downloaded the remote app. Which allows me to be anywhere in my house and control my itunes . I just love it =)

As my default media player i like vlc media player . It's very fast and responsive =D

I use iTunes as the default media player because it is (a little) better than MS media player. However, it is a resource whore. It loads resident programs such as; mDNSresponder.exe, AppleMobileDeviceService.exe, iTunesHelper.exe and, even iPodservice.exe! If any of these are stopped or suspended, they just reload themselfs like a bad scene from the movie Poltergeist. Also, These programs consume 'tons' of RAM and use more I/O Handels & Threads than Akamai Technologies! (which is another issue we all need to address)

It doesn't load up any files called .exe for me. iTunes is 500 times faster on a Mac. You should try it out.

I'm starting to worry about iTunes, it seems to be getting slower and slower with each new build. I think we all owe it to NullSoft to start using WinAmp again. Don't you remember the good times?! Ah yes, my first batch of mp3's, stored on ZipDisk, and my funky custom skins. Winamp, it really whips the llama's ass.

Oooh nostalgia.

@catchatyou - Hehe... Just to get under your skin I run Vanilla SL off the other hard drive in my PC. So I do indeed have iTunes for Mac. :D Please don't start the old argument of anything a pc can do, a mac can do better. It doesn't cover for the fact that Apple have turned windows iTunes into a nightmare! The larger Apple's mobile devices division have gotten, the worse they've gotten. But that's what business does, lets just hope they don't bloat as much as M$ did.

I like using iTunes because it works with my iPod easily. Plus it makes it really easy to organize my large media library. Also the genius feature is really nice too.

I use iTunes with media in my iTunes library. Whatever I don't want to add to my library, I'll use QuickTime.

I use Windows Media Player as my main media player. iTunes takes too long to start up while Windows Media Player starts up FAST!!

For online music, I use the free Pandora app instead of their web site to listen to their free streaming music service.

I used Winamp when I was younger.

That's mainly because you're using Windows. It's sort of like running Safari on Windows, it's also the same situation. When I was using Windows (and still do from time to time), WMP was too slow and crashed to often. From my experiences, I'd still only pretty much only use iTunes.

(Jun 25 '10 at 02:11) catchatyou catchatyou's gravatar image

What's it have to do with Windows? I've used other media players & iTunes is the ONLY such software that has this problem.

iTunes is an application that is made by Apple, so wouldn't you think that it runs better on their operating system?
