Which processor brand is the best, i hear that amd has better value for the dollar but overheat and don't last as long. Then i hear that intels last longer and are worth money as well as being smarter. What do you think?

Intel has speed changing depending on how many cores are used, and hyper-threading. AMD is a bit behind on tech. However, AMD chips are faster, and more stable, as all processors are 'true' dual- or quad-cores. Also, Intel uses a variety of sockets at any given time (right now, 1156LGA and 1136LGA), while AMD works on 1 and is backwards compatible (AM3 is current, but works with AM2+ and some AM2 chips). However, you cannot install an AM3 chip on an AM2+ socket. I personally prefer AMD because I don't have to get a new motherboard every time I get a new processor. Also, AMD tends to not last as long, as they are cheaper and therefore slightly more popular with overclockers who burn out their chips at an astounding rate.

AMD not last long??? I have been using the same AMD processor for the past 9 years!!! Sure it's about time to upgrade but it still works just like the day I bought it.
